try to pengci the police, but now police are apparently trying out the same trick.n the past, we’ve seen some fearless individuals
In case you’re not aware, the Chinese word “pengci” refers to the practice of throwing yourself in front of a vehicle and pretending to be injured. There are many different styles, with some practitioners being more dedicated to their craft than others, but the intent is always the same, to extort money from drivers—just so long as they don’t have a dashboard cam.
Well, on Wednesday, a dashcam caught a rather strange episode on the street in the Hunan city of Hengyang. In the footage, a traffic cop is seen directing a white car to pull over to the side of the road. Easing along at a snail’s pace, the vehicle turns towards the officer who immediately falls to the ground, holding onto his knee in apparent pain.
Afterward, a fellow officer and the driver both try to help the man up, but he insists on staying on the ground, apparently too injured to stand.
However, Chinese netizens have expressed their doubts as to the seriousness of the police officer’s injury. In the footage, it certainly appears that the car never even touches him.
With the video going viral on Chinese social media, the Hengyang public security bureau has announced that it will conduct an investigation into the incident to find out the truth.
