A tragedy was avoided on Monday at a residential community in Chongqing thanks to some quick-thinking neighbors and a quilt.
Footage from the community shows a 3-year-old boy clinging to the edge of a 5th-floor balcony, trying to pull himself back up. Meanwhile, on the ground, residents notice the situation and rush to help, grabbing a quilt and holding it underneath the child.
After about a minute, the boy finally loses his grip, plunging down onto the waiting quilt.
It’s been reported that the boy had been left napping alone at home. When he woke up, he went to find his grandma, climbing out onto the balcony.
Afterward, the grandmother came rushing back to retrieve the child and didn’t let paramedics take him away, returning back home instead. When the boy’s parents came home in the evening, they took him to the hospital.
