uring yet another bizarre press conference appearance on the White House lawn on Wednesday, US President Donald Trump looked up into the sky and proclaimed himself “The Chosen One” when it comes to dealing with China.
The messianic comment looks a bit less strange in context with Trump complaining that his predecessors should have started a trade war with China long ago to stop the country from ripping off the US.
“Somebody had to do it so I’m taking on China,” he continued. “I’m taking on China on trade and you know what? We’re winning.”
Early last year, Trump had claimed that trade wars were “good” and “easy to win,” however, his administration has yet to manage to strike a deal with China despite numerous rounds of negotiations. Instead, Trump has slapped tariffs on goods from China and Beijing has responded in kind.
Another round of tariffs are set to go into effect on September 1, though some are being delayed until December 15 in order to mitigate the harm to US consumers going Christmas shopping — despite Trump’s claims that the tariffs are really only hurting China.
Following’s Trump’s latest comments, Chinese state tabloid the Global Times has suggested that the president may, in fact, be the “chosen one” to bring on a US economic recession.
Now it is difficult to gauge if #DonaldTrump is the "chosen one" to take on #China by starting the massive #tradewar, or is he the "chosen one" to bring #US another economic recession & make millions of middle- and lower- class American families suffer. https://t.co/OoHBtrkoGG pic.twitter.com/s9zR3UovIB

This all comes after sent out a tweet earlier in the day quoting praise from conspiracist Wayne Allyn Root, who said that Israeli Jews love the American president like he’s the “King of Israel” and the “second coming of God.”
