A farmer in rural Hebei province has devoted himself to growing furniture.
In footage posted online by Pear Video, the 67-year-old Shang Chunlin shows off his unusual “crops.” Shang has spent the past 17 years planting trees and working to shape them into pieces of furniture as they grow.
Once grown, the trees can be cut out and turned into chairs, no assembly required.
As you can imagine, this isn’t the simplest of processes but after many of study and experimentation, Shang says that he now has hopes of building an “ecological furniture cultural village” in the future.
