A man in Shanghai says that he has no regrets after getting part of his ear bitten off while stopping a sexual assault.
The 25-year-old man, surnamed Li, was passing by a bar on Julu Road in Huangpu district in the early morning hours of June 26 when he saw a skirmish brewing on the sidewalk.
Li noticed that the drunken culprit, surnamed Wang, was accosting a woman and stepped forward to intervene.
In the ensuing altercation, Wang bit Li’s left ear before running off. The bite ripped off one-third of the ear. Li says major surgery will be required to repair it.
Despite the damage, Li said that if he had to do it all again, he would have done the exact thing — a conviction that has earned him serious praise on Chinese social media.
Meanwhile, Wang was arrested on July 15. It’s unclear what charges he will face.
