We’re usually pretty good with adjectives, but something about a Jewish-Chinese rock band and a B-52s influenced B6 opener (like we needed another reason to get excited for Friday’s 80’s Happy Hour) makes us shut up quicker than … ummmm, something that shuts up quickly. This week’s show also sees electro-experimental from Hunan, thrash metal from Hangzhou and we-want-to-say-fusion-but-know-people-hate-that-word jazz from the East Coast. The boys from I-GO pay us a studio visit as well (might have heard them on a Nike commercial, hmmmm?) ... and did we mention we have a Chinese version of this show now? Golly.
‘Cast breaks down like this:
1:04 – “I heard the man came in and took away the drums…”
2:36 – “No! Pet Shop Boys are karaoke!”
3:02 – “Hey, if MTV played it then our little show will…”
3:05 – Shanghaiist Pick of the Week: B6 & JJ (I-GO) music clip
4:17 – “I heard one of you was involved with a Nike commercial…”
5:06 – B6 music clip (courtesy of Nike)
5:59 – “I think that (post-punk title) just comes with getting your Beijing card…”
6:28 – Re-Tros music clip
7:06 – “Is that Fred Schneider or is that Fred Schneider?”
7:34 – “It sounds like Buddha Bar -- but not in the bad way…”
7:52 – 48V music clip
8:51 – “I don’t think they (YYT) allow quiet shows…”
9:03 – The Falling music clip
10:08 – “I walked away from this show…had such a good time…”
10:30 – “You used the F-word!”
11:06 – “Your band…is all over the place.”
11:50 – Alec and The All-Stars music clip
13:18 – “I got a master’s degree in playing jazz…”
13:58 – “A guy came to the studio from Nanjing with his CD…”
14:41 – Unsigned Band of the Week: Asia Simcha
15:18 – “I know it’s crazy, but it’s true…”
15:48 – “Let me give you a quick (weekend lineup) rundown”
So…you know, there you go. Keep sending in those demos -- we sure do love most of you.

Below is a very pathetic attempt at GigTV, but hopefully will make those that haven't seen Cold Fairyland or been to Yuyintang realize what they've been missing.
