My brother read about this deal in a magazine, so I'll credit him with finding me the best, most delicious, most enjoyable way to spend 150RMB on a Wednesday night in Shanghai. Kakadu, Australian grill, has an all-you-can-eat, all-you-can-drink (of Stella draft) buffet.

Could it be, a feast at EEST?
Shanghai has the definitive brunch culture, with a plethora of Sunday brunch deals at a variety of price ranges and always one taxi ride away. Hankering for some all-you-can-eat dim sum this past Sunday, we headed to EEST. Situated on the fifth floor inside the Westin Hotel, EEST Crystal Garden has their three kitchens -- Chinese, Japanese, and Thai -- intermix and intermingle to create a five-star feast in your mouth. Over three hundred dishes to choose from, for 98RMB (plus 15% service fee).

Shoka Reduxa: Back when little Shoka opened up as part of the Loft 98 trifecta early this year, most saw the restaurant as an attempt to move in on Haiku's turf. Specifically, upscale and modern sushi wrapped up in a trendy dining experience that attracts tons of business. Months later, with too many conspicuously empty tables, Shoka started offering an all-you-can-eat-and-drink special on certain days of the week to jump start business. Now, we've discovered, the special is an option on any day of the week.
Kommune: Great Ozzie Barbecue is back
We've heard about this for a while, but never managed to head down so we weren't sure what to expect when we got to Kommune the other day. An OCN-style networking mingling over dinner? Thank god for the laidback Aussie nature, it's more of a cozy get-together among friends, i.e. booze and all-you-can-eat BBQ minus the pretense. So the price has now been upped to RMB 148 (from RMB 100) with two drinks thrown in instead of one. Still, it's a bargain if you like hamburger patties, sausages, kebabs and salads (4 kinds, well mixed). Too bad there's no warm summer breeze yet and it got a little chilly while we were waiting for the food, otherwise it's all good. Nothing to complain about a hearty meal midweek. Would we be asking for too much if we want a little more variety and how about BBQ vegetable kebabs next time?
