If you're feeling festive and energetic this weekend, maybe head out to one of the many anniversary parties around the city which are certainly filling up our plans on Friday and Saturday this week (Lola, Judy's, and Xibo to name a few). If that's not your style, you could also check out Shanghai's newest venue Shanhai for a night of Chinese and Japanese DJs, head over to the Go West Book Launch, or hit up the four-year anniversary of the Pervert Party at Cargo JJ (the future location of our very own Shanghaiist Halloween party coming up later this month - you heard it here first!) And if that's still not enough, head over to our calendar for more.

It's been three years since the great Sichuan earthquake struck, killing 70,000 and leaving 4.8 million people homeless. Yesterday, public ceremonies were held in numerous cities across the Sichuan province to mark the third anniversary of the killer tremblor.
2,662 Shanghai couples chose Valentine's Day to get married
A record 2,662 couples got married in Shanghai on Saturday, according to figures from the Shanghai Civil Affairs Bureau. That's three times the daily average of roughly 800 marriage applications and about 30% more than last year's Valentine's Day. A representative of the bureau said that younger couples are more likely to pick fashionable Western festivals, especially V-Day, to get married. We say these Shanghainese ladies will probably regret it in the future when they end up getting combined Valentines-slash-Anniversary gifts from their husbands. Source: Shanghai Daily
