I'm not sure what exactly made this week the week for great art events, but there's a bunch coming up and they begin tonight! So in honor of all the great art being thrown at us from now until Sunday, here's a special art events round up. A taste of what you can look forward to: Artist battles, a Shanghai Old Town photography exhibit, the start of the World Photography Festival and Open Goat!
Art Round Up: Events aplenty starting today
Shanghai Photographer Night at Dada
Kicking off a new event idea that may very well turn into a monthly occurrence, Dada Bar is getting the word out about their ‘Shanghai Photographer Night’ on November 18th. The concept behind the event is an attempt to combine photography and music into one cohesive event. Rather than playing the uninspired, whiny music that is often found in art gallery exhibits, each photographer will him or herself select music to accompany their contribution, giving the entire experience a more consistent theme (or so goes Dada’s theory).
The Factory closing up shop until November?
Well shoot. The Factory, the art/food destination that only just opened in late April and played host to a multitude of interesting art/food events is now "termporarily suspending its activities." According to its recent blog post, they'll be closed until November while they undertake "a strategic review to refocus and further develop its creative core." We'd heard rumors of them having trouble paying chefs, causing some of the founding members to leave - does that have anything to do with this?
