With support from Mr. Particle, LAVA/OX/SEA and AV Okubo, New York experimental rockers Battles celebrated a raucous end to their Asia tour with an amazing act at the Zhijiang Dream Factory on Saturday. Sure, you could always just stay at home tonight, turn out your lights at exactly 8:30pm and then wait around an hour before you declare yourself a good environmental citizen and go back to your regular life - or you could recognize the whole movement for what it really is: a way to feel a part of something bigger than yourself with like-minded people... and an excuse to get drunk in the dark! So here's a couple places to chug a few in the name of Mother Gaia.

Bam! Bam! Bam! Nope, that's not the sound of Midi hopes being quashed, it's the sound of three straight weekends of great gigs coming your way. Forget all that tiresome festival nonsense and look forward to Battles this weekend, the brilliant Hard Queen next Saturday and then Hedgehog promoting their new album the weekend after.

Ratatat - whose song we once featured here against a backdrop of Spring Festival fireworks - may be gracing Shanghai with its presence this Spring. According to local concert promoters S.T.D., the Brooklyn-based indie electro-music duo will play on May 21 at Zhijiang Dream Factory, along with Wuhan dance punk group AV Okubo. Ratatat has toured with the likes of Björk, Daft Punk, Interpol, Franz Ferdinand, The Faint and The Killers, and have produced remixes of songs by The Knife, Television Personalities and Animal Collective. It was raunchy and raw, rockin' and raucous... and now it's over. The two night line up this weekend started out on Friday with Shanghai-based pop-rockers Pinkberry, DJ Sacco and an amazing set from Beijing's Demerit - easily one of the best bands on the alternative scene right now. And on Saturday, Maybe Mars outdid themselves, bringing us AV Okubo, Snapline, Ourself Beside Me and Carsick Cars. Special thanks to Split Works for bringing us two weeks of artistic mayhem. French electro-rock group We are ENFANT TERRIBLE, who rocked LOgO last Friday, are doing a special encore show tonight at Yuyintang to end their China tour.
