This was Shanghai Alleycat's second race, following last year's success with an even more impressive turnout (230, up from 150), more prizes, and bigger parties. Participants were divided into four categories: fixed/non-fixed gear, and locals/non-locals. Read the official review of the race on People's Bike or check out their Flickr account for more race day fun.

Sunday BMX Grind Box: Free entry, beer, BBQ and show
Around July of last year, we made an amazing (to me, at least) discovery: Shanghai has a thriving competitive bike scene, and not just during the X Games. BMX bikers from all over - Dongbei, Nanjing, Shenzhen took the train/bus/whatever to meet at the Source for a night of watching bike vids, drinking free beer and doing sick tricks (that's the slang, right?). Now, we get to relive that - but way bigger.
Happy first Shanghai Alleycat bike race
Remember that fun little bike race we told you about a couple weeks ago? The Shanghai Alleycat? It happened this weekend and, happily, seemed to be a great success! Check out the winners and various links to picture galleries on the People's Bike website. Good going, guys. Hopefully, by next year, we'll actually be comfortable enough bike riders to join in on the festivities.
