We're too much of pansies to navigate the Shanghai streets by bike ourselves, but if you're an avid city cyclist with a penchant for competitiveness, check out this crazy little race we came across: Shanghai Alleycat.

Did you know Shanghai had a bike scene? Neither did we until we stumbled upon a BMX movie viewing session at urban street style store Source on Saturday. Hosted by hobby site cnbmx.com and bike part supplier ibmxco.com, the Nice Try event brought out bikers from here to Nanjing to Dongbei together for one night.

Last month the Fashion & Style section of The New York Times published Riding the It Factor, putting forward the Dutch bicycle as the new fashionable "It object" on the New York streets in these times of "Great Downturn."

Those who are bravely traveling to Beijing to catch the Olympics and want to squeeze in some sight-seeing along the way will want to take note. Thanks to WildChina Blog for the updates:

1. The torch relay from August 5th(today!) to 8th will involve the China Millennium Monument(中华世纪坛), Temple of Heaven, the Badaling Great Wall, and Jinshan Park. During this time, sites will be closed partially or entirely, and trips there may be difficult.
