For those in Shanghai who want to experience a delicious, drool-worthy Thanksgiving feast this year, restaurants and hotels all over the city are cooking up a little something to commemorate the holiday. We've created a hand-picked list of where to get the most delicious Thanksgiving meals in Shanghai.
Shanghai's top 5 places to get your Thanksgiving turkey fix
Pencil This In: April 25-29
All the things you'd want to do this Monday through Thursday. On the schedule this week: You can fill up your week with good deeds--United Family Hospital is running a blood drive today and donors will even receive a special t-shirt for participating. Or how about arm wrestling to raise funds for a disabled home? That's at the Boxing Cat Brewery (Sinan Mansions) on Thursday. The Dutch and the Flemish are having a "Sjanghai" get together and there are also two seminars for the business-minded these next few days. Read on (or check out our calendar) for more!
Interview: Kelley Lee, restaurateur
Kelley Lee is the young, talented chef and mastermind behind some of Shanghai's most famous and well-loved eateries (The Alchemist, Boxing Cat Brewery, Cantina Agave). Not long ago, she expanded Mexican favorite Cantina Agave to Pudong and had a slew of new venues open up at the Sinan Mansions complex. A remarkably tenacious business woman, Shanghaiist gets her to open up on what constitutes a good meal, how a guy should impress her over dinner, and whether she has any more plans for world, excuse us, Shanghai domination.
TONIGHT: Say goodbye to Shanghaiist's founder @ Sinan Mansions Boxing Cat
It was but five (almost six!) years ago that Dan Washburn somehow roped the Gothamist network into setting up an outpost in Shanghai. He started Shanghaiist with a post poking fun at Jackie Chan's views on interracial relationships, setting the tone for hundreds of Jackie Chan jokes on this site since. But now he's leaving!
Interview: Ed Wang, NFL's first player of full Chinese descent
In the 2010 football season, when Ed Wang got drafted to play for the Buffalo Bills, he became the first fully Chinese football player to enter the league. When the 6'5 310lbs offensive tackle is not being referred to as "Godzilla" he is most usually called the "Yao Ming of the NFL". Now traveling around China to promote the game during the off season, Shanghaiist met up with him at the Boxing Cat Brewery and talked about his Chinese heritage, how being the first Chinese player into the NFL was his dream from the get go, and his fear of scary movies.
Meet Ed Wang, the first Chinese NFL player, this Thursday at Boxing Cat Brewery!
Suffering from Superbowl withdrawals? Yeah, thought so, but you can get back some of that American football fever at the Boxing Cat Brewery when Ed Wang, the first fully ethnic Chinese NFL player hosts happy hour drinks.
Pencil this in: Feb. 21 - 24
All the things you'd want to do this Monday through Thursday. On the schedule this week: It's Shanghaiist Scrabble time again so see you at Cotton's! We've got some interesting people dropping into Shanghai. First, there's Ed Wang, the very first Chinese football player to be drafted into the NFL hosting a happy hour at the Boxing Cat, and the Macau Playboy bunnies doing an appearance at M1NT. Read on (or check out our calendar) for more!

Photos: Sherpas Slurpas, our July 4 chugging competition winners
Congratulations to the Sherpas Slurpas! While it looked quite harrowing at times, these crazy chuggers managed to out drink their competition with aplomb. They won 2000RMB in our chugging competition, which they've decided to give to Roots & Shoots! That's a couple more trees in Mongolia, all thanks to alcohol.
July 4 Party @ The Boxing Cat Brewery: Eatin' Pie
Oh boy, was our pie eating contest something! Contestants had their hands tied behind their backs and were forced to shove their faces into pies as big as... well, their faces! The flavor of the day was banana creme and the winner (of 500RMB in Boxing Cat Brewery vouchers) was unlikely! Thanks to Justin Fischer of That's Shanghai and Geoff Ng of City Weekend for judging.
Weekendist: July 2 - July 4
Every Friday, we try to make things easier for you by bringing you a roundup of events going on this weekend. If you're in the mood for a little night music this weekend, have a look at our Midweek Music Preview.
Boss Hogg: Meet the band for our 4th of July party
You've no doubt already heard about our Dukes of Hazzard-inspired 4th of July party coming up this Sunday at Boxing Cat Brewery on Fuxing Lu. We're really excited to have a very talented trio of musicians — they're calling themselves Boss Hogg — performing all afternoon. We recently caught up with Boss Hogg member Jeff Davis, who told us a little bit about the group.
Threesday: 3 Dukes of Hazzard-themed costumes we want to see on July 4
Sure, you could always wear a Western shirt and a cowboy hat to be one of the Duke brothers (and really, the only way we'd be able to tell the difference between Bo and Luke is their hair)...and heck knows being Daisy Duke is even easier, but it may take a little more finesse to win our Dukes of Hazzard costume contest at our upcoming Fourth of July party at Boxing Cat Brewery.

Reminder: Sign up for the contests at our Boxing Cat Brewery July 4 Party
There's only a week left until July 4, so here's a friendly reminder to sign up for all the activities you'd like to take part in (besides the regular mix of drinking and eating)! In case you missed it during the past week, here are the sign up sheets.
Sign up for the July 4 pie eating contest, you gluttons!
Don't think you have the liver or the lack of gag reflex needed to participate in our charity chugging competition? No worries, there's still some way to get your jollies in competing: why not try your hand at scarfing delicious Boxing Cat Brewery pies instead? Here's what you need to do to take part:
Sign up for the July 4 "Boat Race" Charity Beer Chugging Competition!
We mentioned briefly the rules for our micro-brew beer chugging competition (for charity!) in our post about the upcoming July 4 party before, but just so there's no confusion, here's exactly what you need to do to take part:
Shanghaiist + Boxing Cat Brewery's July 4 Party: Dukes of Hazzard, contests and prizes galore!
Yeeeeehaw! If there was anything we're good for at Shanghaiist, it's makin' our way the only way we know how - and this July 4 we'll be makin' our way to the Boxing Cat Brewery for a good ol' Independence Day shindig. Last year's July 4 party was a rousing success, if we may say so ourselves, and this year's promises to be much of the same. Like last time, we'll have LIVE MUSIC playing and a BOAT RACE (aka chugging rally) for charity!
Gary Heyne, Shanghai restaurateur and Boxing Cat Brewery brewmaster, passes away
The news that Gary Heyne, beloved co-owner of one of our favorite microbrew/food establishments in Shanghai, came as an incredible shock this weekend. Gary leaves his family - wife San San and daughter Gracie - behind. His family has requested that he be interred in Texas, so Boxing Cat Brewery is now holding a fundraiser to help with the funeral costs and offer assistance to his wife and child.
Weekendist: Charity festivities, Oktober/Halloween events, and more!
Besides the continuing Ink on the Run and Shanghai International Arts Festival, this weekend has a plethora of every music genre, art exhibitions, comedy shows, record release shows, charity wine tastings, and Oktober-festivities... and of course, live music. But we put our picks for those up already.
New York hitting Shanghai at Channel One mall
The Grand Opening of the Channel One mall complex is this Saturday, September 19, and to celebrate, it'll be running a "New York Impressions" week.

Photos: July 4th Celebration @ Boxing Cat Brewery
The weather held up, Carlton J. Smith made everyone shake their booties, and lots walked away with fabulous prizes (the Crocs had their own cheerleading team). All in all, it was an incredibly successful Fourth of July celebration!
