Shanghai's second closet swap is happening this Saturday at The Apartment, and if you want to take part you better get moving! Today is the last day you can take all your unwanted, lightly-used items down to William the Beekeeper and exchange them for tokens. Then on Saturday, head over to The Apartment and start rummaging. Best of all, it's all for a good cause!
Reminder: Today is the last day to drop off clothes for Saturday's Closet Swap
Closet Swap returns @ The Apartment on Oct 22
Closet Swap is back once again to help you cleanse your wardrobe of all those lightly-used discards cluttering up the closet space. Just choose the items you want to swap, take them over the William the Beekeeper boutique by October 19 and recieve tokens. Then bring those tokens to the swap on October 22 at the Apartment.
Shanghai's first American Eagle opening doors this weekend
We aren't expecting any big fight-inducing line ups for this thing, but as we mentioned earlier, if you are interested in dressing like an 8th grader from Minnesota, American Eagle Outfitters will be swinging open their doors on Saturday, May 28. The store is located in the busy shopping area of Nanjing Xi Lu just a stone's throw away from other large global retailers such as GAP, H&M, and Uniqlo. In addition to the Shanghai store, the company will be unveiling locations in Beijing and Hong Kong.

Over the weekend, savvy buyers headed over to Cotton's on Xinhua Lu for the city's first closet swap. In the days leading up to the inaugural event, shoppers stopped by the William the BeeKeeper boutique to exchange their gently-used clothes for tickets. Come Saturday, all people had to do was show up, tickets ready in hand, and rummage through the stacks of clothing. As they say, one man's trash is another man's treasure.

Designer and founder of Suzhou Cobblers, Denise Huang, held a fashion show over the weekend featuring many colorful folksy looks on her models.
Gap opens e-tail store on Taobao
We covered Gap's opening of the first China store right here in Shanghai and now the American retailer is making the news again for another opening, except this time it's a store that is online.
Shanghai show: Chloe celebrates 5 years in China
Beijing may have gotten Prada, but down here in Shanghai, Chloe staged one of its biggest shows to celebrate its 5 year anniversary of being in China. The fashion occasion brought out Asia's most high profile celebrities -- from Hong Kong model Gaile Lok, actor Simon Yam, to Korea's Wonder Girls, they were all there for the presentation of the Spring-Summer 2011 collection. Also not one to miss the social-media boat, the brand had even launched a blog www.jesuischloe.com and streamed the collection live from the Expo Center. You can view the full collection of classic feminine Chloe looks above.

Lighting up the runway is designer,Jenny Ji with one of the strongest showings so far. Spectators tightly sardined into the tent to catch a glimpse of the designer's eastern sensibilities and she did not disappoint.
Photos: Uma Wang x Swatch Fashion Week kick off
Fashion week madness began Wednesday night at Fuxing Park. Leading the pack was designer Uma Wang, who collaborated with Swatch for her spring-summer collection. Wang sent a neutral palette down the runway. Hair-tousled models showed the first few looks in all white outfits and ended the show with head-to-toe black. Viewed from the front, many of the clothes looked deceptively simple, but as the models sailed past, back-sweeping elaborate draping would come into view.
Crazy for Khaki? Gap stores almost in Shanghai
We reported back in October that Gap was coming to Shanghai sometime this year. An anonymous tipster has sent us along this sign that Gap is actually here right now (just not in store form quite yet). Lovers of sensible pants and wearing clothes that ostensibly help fight AIDS somehow - your wishes look like they're about to be answered:
American Apparel now open at Shanghai's 1933 Building
SH Mag reports: "The clothes are still made in LA, and so are the wages – staff here receive above the US minimum. ... Small, but packed full of sweatshop-free goodness." And the prices? "Fine jersey T-shirt (¥188); plain tank vest (¥154); knee-high tube socks (¥102); solid rib mod dress (¥307); lamé late night mini skirt (¥328); unisex striped zip hoody (¥461); nylon taffeta jacket (¥553)." We're curious to see how this location performs. Nice looking building, but does anyone actually go there? (Honest question — we've never been.)
Where we're going this afternoon: Enoise concert series @ eno
As we feel frankly uncomfortable in anything else, Shanghaiist frequently rocks the t-shirt and jeans look. Classic. To that end, eno is one of our favourite shops to head to — with a great range of creative and oh-so-cool clothing, including designs by some of our favourite bands and musicians. So, when they say they're throwing a party we're naturally interested. When they say there'll be live music we get pretty excited. And when they say there'll be free beer and snacks, well... then we have to take a cold shower and sit down for a while.
Expensive My Blueberry Nights T-shirts, Jackie Chan stunts and other movie news
Wong Kar-wai is celebrating the opening of his shit movie My Blueberry Nights in the US this Friday by selling some merchandise — most notably, $95 t-shirts, $50 posters, and $25 postcards. And if you want to thank him for ripping you off in person, you'll get your chance in New York at a fashion boutique store called Opening Ceremony, where Wong is going to be on Wednesday afternoon. We hope that someone tells him that the US is facing a recession and that the real incomes are not increasing for the average American. $25 for a postcard? You can get four lattes in Manhattan for that price! Sheesh!
American Apparel coming to Shanghai
Fans of tight-fitting non-branded clothing rejoice! Following the much-heralded invasion of H&M and (the slightly less heralded) C&A, dedicated followers of fashion have the arrival of another Western brand to look forward to, after American Apparel announced that they will be hitting the streets of Shanghai in the next month or so. Location details have not yet been released but the chain is currently negotiating a lease for a downtown store in Shanghai, as well as planning to open in Beijing and Suzhou.
