Who knew Changsha had such to a vibrant nightlife? Certainly not us. Photojournalist Yang Shuhuai (杨抒怀) of the Xiaoxiang Morning Post (潇湘晨报) recently spent time inside and outside of clubs along Changsha's Jiefang Xi Lu (which translates as West Liberation Road), to capture a variety of nightlife ephemera, including dancefloor beauties, bathroom funny business, hookups, and the downtime hours of China's own G-String Divas. Oh, and a little bit of vomit too, for good measure. more ›

Photos: Prive Opening Party

First, there was Mint, then Drop, and now Prive has landed in Shanghai. Whoa, for a second there, I thought I was in Lan Kwai Fong. As expected, huge crowds descended on the Bund for the opening of the club, exacerbated by confused and dare we say it, several incompetent door staff. But once you shoved your way through the traffic jams at the elevators, it was a very decent party with all the right elements. more ›

Bon Bon is gone gone?

Bon Bon is gone gone?

Alas, it seems like Huai Hai Lu stalwart Bon Bon may have closed up shop over the weekend, and the only guys who noticed were SmartShanghai. It's Thursday and the club still has to issue official notice of the closure, but according to the nightlife website, they're planning on moving locations. But where will Shanghai's trance-loving expat high school crowd go until then?! WON'T SOMEBODY THINK OF THE CHILDREN? more ›

SH magazine blogs

Frankly we're amazed that the 8Days website still even exists so long after the magazine was sold and became SH -- especially since the new SH website actually started including magazine content. But not only is the old 8Days website live, it is updated -- and now they are adding new features. Seven members of the SH staff now have personal blogs ... as if they didn't already have enough on their respective plates, what with those darn weekly deadlines and all. The blogs appear to have launched just this week (and thus are a little light on content). Anyway, here they are: more ›
