It's a mess out there: Be careful

It's a mess out there: Be careful

Nasty. Nasty. Nasty. If we didn't have to walk the dogs, we'd just stay inside our (semi) warm living room all day. We know the miserable sleet (or is it freezing rain?) and slippery conditions are forcing some offices to send workers home early today. But winter's icy grip on China is far more serious than some missed work or a slip on the sidewalk. Here's a rundown (and, please, feel free to add to this list in a comment): more ›

Shanghai blog rates cheap beers, survives

Lads, next time we recommend splurging on a six pack from Sherpa's. Or Old Speckled Hen is only 11 kuai around corner from Shanghaiist headquarters. So bring over some "tucker" and we'll throw back a few. more ›

Video of Ozomatli at the Yue Festival in Shanghai

A couple days ago we asked for your photos and videos from the Yue Festival last week in Shanghai, and yesterday Archie from Spli-t Works, the event's promoter, sent us a link to the video embedded in this post. Looks like Ozomatli got up close and personal with the Shanghai crowd. Shanghaiist reader T also has a set of photos from the Yue Festival on Flickr. More pics here. Another Shanghaiist reader, who we assume... more ›

Independence Day Burger Grill Off Photos (finally...)

Shanghaiist's busy backroom techies have been wrangling with all manner of nerdy stuff to ensure the delivery our photo slideshow to the eager, burger slider-enthralled masses. We had a great time yesterday, and from the above photos we are fairly sure that you did as well. more ›
