Why you should grab a bite: Remember how when news of 7 Eleven first came to town, everybody was excited about the possibilities of slushies (readers have pointed out that they're called Slurpies. But they're still slushies - just branded - no?)? And then when they actually got built and everyone went to find out there were no slushies, the audible awwws of disappointment? Looks like we didn't need 7 Eleven in the first place.

Grab a Bite: Momi & Toy's Strawberry Banana Crepe
Sometimes we find a dish in a restaurant that deserves special mention. Other times, we discover a street snack that absolutely needs to be tried. And every now and then, something utterly bizarre comes along and we play lab rat for you. In all those instances, there’s Grab a Bite!
New Choc on the Block: Café Godiva
Being true chocoholics (remember our chocolate death match between Whisk and hof?), we jumped at a chance to try the newest place in town - Café Godiva. Get ready to drool!
A new Twist for Shanghai's dessert scene
Twist is a tiny little depot that specializes in cold Taiwanese desserts. They've got smoothies and juices, but what you really need to go to Twist for is the shaved ice. Though we're sure there are similar offerings sprinkled around the Taiwanese enclaves Hongqiao/Gubei, we're positive that in Shanghai proper, Twist has the freshest and most authentic ingredients meant to sit atop a mound of shaved ice.
Food: Umoo and its "handmade yogurt"
We'll admit, the reason we first tried out Umoo, a newly opened yogurt joint on the corner of Xikang Lu and Beijingxi Lu was because it boasted it sold "handmade yogurt." Not frozen. Not homemade. Hand. Made. Yogurt. It gave us visions of workers toiling over pots of curdling milk and bacteria, shoving their hands in and swirling it around to give the yogurt a little more oomph, and the gross out artists in us couldn't wait to see what was going on.
