Last Saturday, April 16, the Eco Design Fair showed up at its new digs in the Waterhouse at Cool Docks on the South Bund. Since 2008, the fair has showcased eco-conscious designers and products. The participating stalls ranged from bakers to bikes, computers to clothes and featured everything in between. Throughout the day there were multiple events including live music performances, a farmers market as well as eco fashion shows and even a "green wedding" feature.
Weekendist: F1 races, The Camel's 1st birthday, Eco Design Fair, Kungfu Komedy, and more
Well, the F1 festivities started last night but the races officially begin today! If you're not heading out to the track to view world class drivers race around at dizzying speeds, you can catch it playing at one of the many sports bars in town. Speaking of sports bars, The Camel is turning one and in true Aussie spirit, shouting everyone a beer who drops by between 6-9pm. On Saturday, the Eco Design Fair is back with a myriad of activities including fashion shows, a bike ride, and interactive workshops, showing you how to live more green. And if that's still not enough, head over to our calendar for more.
April 16: Eco design fair at The Waterhouse
If you took part in the recent lights out for Earth Hour and were left wanting to learn more about sustainable eco living, then the upcoming Eco Design Fair should be just the thing for you. The biannual eco design gathering was held at the URBN hotel in 2009, but is moving over to The Waterhouse hotel this year and will be showcasing eco-conscious designers and products to general consumers.
Weekendist: April 16 - 18
As we already brought to your attention, this weekend will see a host of bar re-openings and a delicious mix of live musical treats from Britpop to electronica.
Pencil This In: Did we not get the memo that this weekend was CHARITY WEEKEND?
It's crazy right? Not to say that Shanghai isn't in a charitable mood most of the time, but this is the first instance we've seen of an entire three day stretch dedicated to not one... not two... but four FIVE different charitable events. It's as if the charity heavens opened up and decided this weekend was the day to rain torrents of giving.
