The cancelation of the Strawberry fest will probably mean a change in many's schedule this weekend but chin up, some of the originally scheduled acts will go ahead and perform in Shanghai instead. Photos: The first Jiashan farmer's market
The weather couldn't have been better today for the first farmer's market at the Jiashan courtyard. The day was beautiful, sunny, and warm, which gave people every reason to come out and shop all the goods up for sale at the market. Fresh fruits, veggies, cheese, homemade jams, hummus, cookies, crepes, wine, cold cuts of meat, it was all there. We're already looking forward to next month's one.
April 9: A new farmer's market coming soon at the Jiashan Market courtyard
Nothing says spring quite like a farmer's market and as warmer weather finally arrives, the first ever Jiashan Farmer's Market with it too. To be held on April 9th, from 9:30am-1pm, the market's going to be a bazaar of "vendors of fruits, vegetables, dairy products (mostly organics), meat, cookies, cupcakes, jam, bread...well, a real market with high quality products." Located in Jiashan Market's hideaway courtyard, market-goers will also have plenty of options for lunch later--sounds like a winner. They're planning on making this a regular event too. We'll be checking it out and letting you know more later!

Weekendist: Rowing machines, flea markets and organic produce
It’s that time of week again, Friday, when Shanghaiist brings you the very best goings on in Shanghai this coming weekend. By using this Weekendist, our Midweek Music Preview and our calendar, you can ensure that you make the most of your weekend.
It is harvest time for Farmer's Markets
Shanghaiist isn't one to get up too early on the weekend to go out and buy groceries or produce; we prefer to watch the back of our eyelids. But we know that some of you do like to do active things each weekend morning. Personally, we dread the thought of hitting Carrefour, Lianhua or Hymall at this time, let alone any form of shopping on a Saturday morning.
