The franchise just opened today (right next to the now defunct Shanhai Livehouse), and we've already dusted off our first Quattro Delight, loaded with old-time pizza toppings favorites like pepperoni, smoked chicken, green peppers and, uh, crab. Our taste buds reportedly informed our brain that the pizza was in fact delicious, and tasted much the same as an authentic Domino's Pizza would, if American Domino's happened to offer crab as a topping.

Shanghai's South Jing'an District to be another big Xintiandi
Because we don't have enough upscale restaurant/retail locations, what with the Rockefeller Bund and Cool Docks and Sinan Mansions (not to mention, the slightly less successful attempts across the river - Lujiazui 1885, we're looking at you), apparently Shanghai is planning on making a swath of the Julu Road area into its own fully renovated richie rich fashion and food destination.

This Week In -ist: Elsewhere in the Gothamist Network
Before we begin, we'd like to extend our deepest sympathies to the family of James Kim. We are not, by any means, trying to discount that tragedy by juxtaposing posts about the Kims with more light-hearted posts. It's the nature of doing a compilation such as this one: we're trying to give a full slice of the goings-on in the Ist-a-Verse: the good, the bad, and the ugly.
Jewish wartime homes to be new Xintiandi
"Only in Shanghai" is what Shanghaiist has been muttering ever since happening upon this article in the Shanghai Daily -- an area of Hongkou district which housed tens of thousands of Jews that fled Nazi Germany and WWII Europe is going to be turned into "the city's second Xintiandi with Jewish culture and characteristics". There will be kosher restaurants, museums, but we don't know yet if there will be a kosher McDonald's cafe or kosher Starbucks, or if the movie theater will serve as a venue for cutting edge films from great Israeli directors like Amos Gitai or Joseph Cedar.
