With just nine minutes left in the fourth quarter of a friendly basketball match between Georgetown University and Bayi Rockets, an insane brawl erupted between the two teams at the Olympic Sports Center Stadium in Beijing yesterday. The match was part of a series of goodwill events scheduled to coincide with U.S. Vice President Joe Biden's visit, but fortunately, Biden was not present at this match. Didn’t take long for our first new year wish to get squashed. On Tuesday, United Airlines won preliminary approval from the US Department of Transportation to operate a daily non-stop flight between Washington, D.C. and Beijing starting this March, beating out proposals from fellow carriers Northwest (Detroit to Shanghai), American (Dallas to Beijing) and our favorite, Continental (Newark to Shanghai). more ›
