Allan Wu, the American-born Chinese host of The Amazing Race: China Rush, the reality television series now airing on International Channel Shanghai (ICS), has received flak for comments he allegedly made in the Shin Min Daily News, a Chinese-language broadsheet known in Singapore for its trashy tabloid content.
Amazing Race host Allan Wu receives flak for comments about Shanghai
One week left to audition for The Amazing Race: China Rush II!
The Amazing Race's China Rush is returning for a second season, and for all of you in China, here's your once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be a part of the show!
Shanghai Snapshots: David Mamet's "Homocode" on ICS
Shanghaiist reader MF in China sent this funny little screen grab of a recent movie showing on the international language channel here in Shanghai, ICS. The film was a classic from the early 1990s - a dark crime drama directed by David Mamet, starring Joe Mantegna as a cop investigating the murder of an elderly Jewish candy shop owner. Its name was...
Watch: Amazing Race and other ICS shows
Our good friends at Fly Films have been working on their most recent reality show, Amazing Race: China Rush, the sequel of sorts to their last project: Shanghai Rush. The show is already on their second episode (it's first elimination episode) and can be viewed every Sunday night at 8pm on ICS or 11:15pm every Saturday night on CCTV News.
Shanghaiist appears on ICS... very, very briefly!
Well hello there, we just wanted to point out our tiny little cameo in a recent episode of ICS' Shanghai Quest. This showing was about contemporary art, a subject we admittedly barely touch on, but it featured Chris Gill and the article he wrote for us. We knew those 2009 retrospectives would be good for something! Check out the episode here, we're at the 8:06 mark. Woah, calm down now, we'll get to signing all your autograph requests in a moment.
We thought ICS was doing this already
In case you didn't think you were getting enough information about the Expo spoon fed to you already, organizers are planning to bring an Expo TV channel to the city's airwaves in March. The channel would present "all-around programming about the international fair, including news reports, films and TV serials, dramas and cartoons," according to Shanghai Daily. Because only national authorities are allowed to open a new TV channel, local officials will have to convert a current station - either ICS or Dragon TV - into the new Expo-only one.
Shanghai Rush: So long and farewell to Norma & David, Rodrigo & Fernanda
This week's Shanghai Rush elimination interviews is a two-for-one, since we only got around to watching the last two episodes on Youku (sorry, but it loads sooo slow outside of China!). Last last week, mother and son team Norma and David got kicked off after failing the map challenge. Then most recently, Brazilian couple Rodrigo and Fernanda came in last and had to go as well.
Shanghai Rush: East and West part with William and Lauren
The two weren't even originally supposed to be together. Both William and Lauren had come to Shanghai Rush auditions with partners who couldn't make it, and so they decided to join up to become one of the more unlikely pairs of the season.
Shanghai Rush: Saying "zai jian" to Matti and Justin
The most recent episode of Shanghai Rush, the first English-language reality show of its scale in China, saw intrepid Shanghai newbies, Matti and Justin get kicked off. Ultimately, a streak of terrible luck and their inability to communicate (often with hilarious results) caused them to come in last in a competition that took them all over the Songjiang district.
Interview: Eric Ransdell, director of Shanghai Rush
We hope everyone's readying their tv sets to watch Shanghai Rush, China's first English-language reality show, which premiers tonight at 8pm on ICS. While others have taken a sneak peek at the first episode - in which we're introduced to the ten teams of two that will be gracing our televisions for the next twelve Sundays - we decided to have a chat with the man behind the scenes: Eric Ransdell, director.
New ICS show Shanghai Rush looking for adventurous couples
If you're a fan of The Amazing Race and you've got a month to kill in Shanghai, why not try out for ICS' upcoming reality show: Shanghai Rush
Interview: William Feng, ICS "Getaway" Host
William Feng is the host of ICS Shanghai's travel show Getaway. New shows go out on Thursdays and are repeated across the week.
