Normally the water itself here in China is enough to make your skin start to blister and peel and fall off, but in a shallow pool at Dianchi Chuntian, a wonderfully relaxing (and affordable) hot springs spa in Kunming, Yunnan Province, it's swarms of hungry fish that seek out your skin — the dead stuff, we were assured — and ingest it. It's meant to be healthy, for you and the fish.

Hu in new bid to tighten screws on rival faction, by Chua Chin Hon of the Straits Times:

One has died from an undisclosed illness while another is already behind bars on corruption charges. Another small restaurant we like, called Naughty Fry (Táo Qì Xiǎo Chǎo - 淘气小炒) has the same owners as Naughty Barbecue. They have a large lunchtime menu. But in the evenings, it's another fantastic location for barbecued food. Also for excellent oysters.

Xiamen Lions travel north tonight to take on Shanghai Shenhua with the home side hoping to put their Asian Champions League woes behind them and get back to the mini-run of form they have enjoyed of late in the CSL.

Shanghaiist is usually not one to promote bands... mainly because we just haven't seen any lately that we like... but we were in Beijing this weekend and caught a show by Beautiful Pharmacy, a folksy band consisting of two Chinese and two Kazakh musicians (insert Borat joke here... or not). We talked briefly with one of the members who mentioned they would be in Shanghai this weekend playing at 4Live. We immediately thought this show would be perfect for our readers; Shanghaiist was certainly put in a trance and found ourselves tapping our feet despite ourselves. Most of the songs we heard over the weekend were in Kazakh... or whatever language they speak over there. The crowd leaned heavily on the hippie side (this being Beijing) but their hypnotizing music should appeal to everyone.
