... in Shanghai, North Korea, that is. Are you willing to make the big move, just to get out of the heat? This wasn't a mistake by AccuWeather.com though. There is a Shanghai in Hwanghae-Bukto in North Korea. In fact, there is a grand total of eight Shanghai's in the world, six of which are in the US. Apparently, you can also find Shanghai's in Alabama, Indiana, Missouri, North Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia. Does anyone know if we missed any other Shanghai out?

You never know about reports issued on April 1, but we have good reason to believe that a recent Chinese report about the lack of sex that middle-aged Chinese couples have might be true. According to that report, issued by some population studies center, over 30% of middle-aged couples have, mostly due to stress and responsibility and busyness, given up their sex lives (放弃性生活), while 41% still maintain some kind of regular sex life. By contrast, only 25% of couples under 30 surveyed had given up on their sex lives. How the frequency of fucking is distributed for the remaining 75% was not included in the news article.

It's the beginning of December in China and "Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer" keeps playing in the grocery store (damn you, Lotus ... or should we say Blotus?) so that can mean only one thing: Christmas is quickly approaching! So here you are preparing for the holiday season. You've already purchased your real tree. And, you've been preparing your killer rum apple cider recipe, that turned your last holiday party into a sleepover (good times!). But wait, it seems that you forgot something ... the gifts! Look no further than to a recent addition to Shanghai — Toys 'R' Us!

You know who's going to be upset about those Bikini Bandits? The Houston school system. Houstonist also reports on some redevelopment shenanigans over a landmark theater.

Here are Miss Chen's qualifications for the 2006 Da Er Wen (达尔文) Award:

With his best performance of the season, Chinese superstar Yao Ming led the injury-plagued Houston Rockets past the Indiana Pacers, 103-99 on Wednesday night. Yao had 38 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 blocks in a gargantuan effort that rallied the Rockets from 17 points down for the victory.

Has life ever gotten so meaningless that you sometimes leave the office in the daytime to hang around on street corners, return to work hours later, and see if anyone has noticed or cared that you've been gone? Us too! On one of todays prolonged one-man-meetings, we saw Mr. Steven Spielberg near Shanghai Centre on Nanjing Xi Lu, with an eight person entourage. Walking no more than five feet past him, thinking "oh I am glad I forgot my camera today", the question arose whether it might be worth it to sing the Indiana Jones theme tune while leaping around, jumping onto benches and rolling on the ground, then smile at Stevie and wait for the film contract to present itself. The answer was no.

We wonder if there will be major brawls between basketball and soccer fans this week in Shanghai. We sure hope so! Because this week as soccer is being played inside Shanghai Stadium, basketball -- or, at least, some sexed-up replication of the sport -- will be played outside. Something called the NBA Jam Van starts its three-month, 10-city tour of China in Shanghai this week. Billed as "the NBA’s premiere interactive touring program" (there are others?), the NBA Jam Van will annoy soccer fans July 28-31, from 11 am to 7 pm daily. Here's exactly what the NBA PR people want Shanghaiist to tell you about it:
