The post-Chinese Grand Prix confrontation between Adrian Sutil and race exec Eric Lux is no longer just a rumor: "Renault owner Eric Lux is to file a criminal complaint against Force India driver Adrian Sutil relating to the fracas which followed Lewis Hamilton’s win at last month’s Chinese Grand Prix. Lux required stitches in a neck wound after Sutil allegedly struck him with a champagne glass at a nightclub in Shanghai. 'In the view of the recent events which occurred in Shanghai on 17 April, Mr Eric Lux has decided to file a criminal complaint against Mr Adrian Sutil for physical assault and grievous bodily harm,' said a statement from Lux’s Swiss lawyers last night. Sutil, a friend of Hamilton, has described the injury he inflicted on Lux as 'unintentional'." [The Telegraph]
Charges filed against F1 driver Adrian Sutil over M1NT glassing incident
Leaked: F1 driver Adrian Sutil was in bar fight at M1NT following Shanghai GP
We'd heard rumors of drivers Adrian Sutil and Lewis Hamilton and race exec Eric Lux involved in a scuffle right after the F1 at the M1NT afterparty but it was only yesterday that any concrete information leaked out. [Times of India]:"The tall Force India driver, who has just two points next to his name this season, was allegedly involved in a bar fight after the recent Chinese Grand Prix, according to a report on racing website 422race.com on Wednesday. Formula 1 broadcasters RAI (Italy) and TF1 (France) have also reported that the German got into a fight in Shanghai with Eric Lux, Genii Capital's number 2 and right-hand man of Gerard Lopez, the owner of Lotus Renault GP. The fight apparently happened at the M1NT club on Sunday night where Lux, Lewis Hamilton and Sutil were all present. The McLaren driver, Hamilton and Sutil are best pals and often holiday together. Observers noticed Lux rushing through the crowd from a private room with blood streaming down his neck. A few seconds later Hamilton was rushed by his bodyguards from the same VIP room." Can any of you M1NT party regulars shed light on this?

Shanghai's No. 1 DJ, according to a Facebook ad
"Widely regarded" as "Shanghai’s No.1 DJ", DJ Spenny is so famous that Shanghaiist has never heard of him before. And to catapult his popularity from the stratosphere into outer space, he's taken up Facebook ads (like the one you see on the right) that encourage you to "like" him on his page.
Sean Kingston got "fire burning on the dance floor"
"Ay' yo Sean, you Mr. Kingston!" As you probably know from yesterday's Midweek Music Preview, Sean Kingston was at M1NT last night. Just to refresh your memory, he's that guy who formed a "new genre where rap, reggae, pop, doo-wop and remarkable songwriting all combine into something totally refreshing." His hit single “Beautiful Girl” sent his career careening into the stratosphere and he's been a pop sensation ever since.
Photos: Dream City Fashion Show @ M1NT
If you haven't noticed (perhaps you’ve been blocking it out mentally), summer has gone! Gone are the days of eating al fresco, aimlessly wandering through a park, and sweating like a beast in heat. Goodbye flip-flops, shorts, t-shirts and ice blended drinks; we will miss you - at least until we get in to the autumn/winter swing of things. In order to help us get in the mood for the new season, Octagon Marketing held a rather suave event over the weekend at M1NT. ‘Dream City’ was a night of fashion and cosmopolitan glamour - a well executed toast to the change of seasons - to the change of fashion at least.
Shanghaiist Readers: How to get into Monday's Geeks & Glamour party at M1NT
The fine folks at TEDxShanghai have offered Shanghaiist readers a chance to crash the event's invitation-only Geeks and Glamour party at M1NT at 7:30 on Monday night. All you have to do is email sage@tedxshanghai.com with this as your subject line: "Me + Shanghaiist + Geeks & Glamour." Send your emails soon — only the first 50 emailers will get an invite to the exclusive party (UPDATE: Entry to the party is RMB 100, paid at the door. The entry fee includes a yet-to-be-announced drink special. Sorry for the confusion!). What is TEDxShanghai? "TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience." Okay, but what is TED? "TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design. ... The annual conference now brings together the world's most fascinating thinkers and doers, who are challenged to give the talk of their lives (in 18 minutes)." Geeks & Glamour is the after-party for TEDxShanghai, Shanghai's independently-organized TED event, which is already booked solid (but you can watch a live feed — with simultaneous English/Chinese translation — on Tudou starting at 10 a.m. Monday). You can learn more on their Facebook page. Start sending your emails! See you on Monday.
M1NT's Soft Opening: Pros and Cons
Everyone likes a good party, especially one with free flow champagne like last night’s M1NT pre-launch. In spite of the copious amounts of alcohol, we are sad to say this exclusive billionaire-millionaire club opened not with a bang, but with a pop. As an old China hand, maybe Shanghaiist is just too jaded to enjoy the hype, but here's our summary of Shanghai's newest club.
Coming in October: M1NT Shanghai, an exclusive club for millionaires and billionaires
If you've got lots of cash to spare, this news will get you wet. A new 20,000 square foot private club is going to open in the penthouse floor of the 24-storey Cross Tower on Fuzhou Lu by the Bund which is soon going to be renamed M1NT Tower after the name of the exclusive club also present in Hong Kong and Cannes. What makes this club special is that it is owned by members who are also shareholders — and not just any Tom, Dick or Harry mind you. M1NT Shanghai is going to have a maximum of 500 shareholders and another 2,000 ordinary members who pay annual fees. According to Marc van der Chijs (of Tudou fame) who's considering taking up membership, M1NT boasts of 7 metre high ceilings, an unobstructed 360 degree view of the city, and a 17-metre long hammerhead shark fish tank (okay, that lucky shark is not going to get killed for its fins). Hopping over to M1NT's website, we found that CNN calls it "the exclusive cocktail club that caters to jet-set billionaires", while Glamour magazine calls it a place where you can "make money while you party". We still don't know how much entry to the club will set you back, but clearly this ain't the place where you'll find Shanghaiist hanging out. For those of you interested in becoming a shareholder, get in touch with them here and you could be part of Marc's party posse real soon.
