Here are two videos of Maroon 5's concert in Shanghai for all you fans out there that missed their show last Saturday. The videos are somewhat blurry but the sound is as good as it gets and gives you a good idea of the atmosphere. So that's it folks. A busy month of high-profile acts in our little town, like we told you earlier this year: one grabbed headlines everywhere, one was forced to disappoint his fans, and this one turned out to be a really kickass show from what we've heard so far. More pictures here and here.

So what are we doing this weekend? Probably spending way too much time with our asses firmly parked on our (somewhat hard) couch. But, we will manage to pry ourselves out of the clutches of laziness for a few shows this weekend. We haven't heard much from the Honey's, one of Shanghai's longest playing bands, for a few months and are excited to hear that this Friday they will be holding a CD release party at the Zhi Jiang Dream Factory. Best of all... this show is free and we love anything that is free. The much hyped CD has been in production for what seems like eternity (in music speak an eternity is about 2 years) and is rumored to be worth the wait. Another Shanghai band that is finally making it back onto stage is Yuguo, who are playing at Yuyintang on Friday. If neither of these fairly mellow sounding rock bands is sweaty enough for you then head to Live Bar where that AC/DC tribute band will be playing for 3 straight nights. Those who really want to impress their girlfriends pull out those wallets and head to see Maroon 5 prance around to the biggest hits off their multi-platinum albums.
Argghh..can you feel it? With the end of the holiday season things in the realm of live music are starting to pick up again. After a much needed break from Shanghai, we are back and ready for some musical action. During the break it seems that venues around the city have started to warm up to the idea of holding more gigs. In April, Windows Tembo, will reopen as a live music venue and is building a solid lineup of shows, while Harleys, that great basement bar in Xujiahui is rumored to be back on the scene with shows by both Queen Sea Big Shark and Canadian dance punk extraordinaire, You Say Party! We Say Die!.
This is just a rumor at this point. But it is a strong rumor. Not a weak rumor, or a flat out lie (like these). Basically, we think you can mark your calendars ... and use pen.
