Would you believe the Eager Beaver? Check out the list to the right (paying special attention to the prices) and let us know what you think. They have most of the beers imported by American Craft Beer Partners (they have Brooklyn Lager, but it isn't on the menu), Coopers, Sam Adams and big bottles of Paulaner, which we hadn't seen elsewhere. We suppose they could use some Belgian beers and some Kiwi beers and maybe they should look into these Aussie beers headed to town soon thanks to Mat Ryan, formerly of Senses. But what Eager Beaver has now, already ranks the dive as perhaps the city's best hideout for beer lovers. What other places compare? Moon River Diner at New Factories comes to mind. Any other candidates?

Well, actually we don't like cats too much since we are allergic, but we love dogs and free drinks. If you do too, you might want to head over to Senses Wine Lounge (515 Jianguo Xi Lu, 龙聚苑酒吧建国西路515号) this week, because they have free drinks for anyone who makes a donation of one kuai (one friggin' kuai) or more to the Shanghai Second Chance Animal Aid organization. That's a deal even the Mouding County police can applaud.
A commenter at another Shanghai forum wondered why we didn't post much on Shanghaiist over the weekend. The easy answer is: Because it was the weekend. But this weekend was busier than most (for us, at least). Before the Happy Hour was the Roller Revival -- lots of fun ... great venue ... great music ... great costumes -- which we managed to escape with all bones in tact. Unfortunately, that is not something all of the party goers can say. There was at least one broken wrist, which shouldn't really come as a surprise since it was an open bar and most of the crowd had wheels on their feet. (Here are some photos.)
