Public voting has begun for the 2010 Miele Guide, which is basically Zagats, but for Asia. So if you're a dedicated foodie with a lot of opinions and a wallet that can afford to back them up, then you might as well register with them and let your will be known. Last year's guide included three restaurants from Shanghai in the Top 5, all from the Bund. Maybe this time, we'll get a slightly more district-diverse selection to represent our fair city. more ›

Well, would you look at that - The Miele Guide, which is like Zagats but with an all over Asia focus, has listed five of the best restaurants in China and three of them are in Shanghai! Who made the cut? Jean-Georges came in at fourth place, beat out just barely by fellow Bund institution M on the Bund at third. Though Beijing's Da Dong Roast Duck took second, it was ultimately David Laris' Laris that grabbed the top spot. Laris is also located on the Bund. While those three are fine restaurants indeed, did the Miele people never go anywhere outside of the Huangpu district? more ›

Guiding Light: Billing itself as Asia's "first truly independent restaurant guide," the folks behind the Miele Guide are ostensibly aiming to be the guide of record when it comes to Asia-only establishments.
