At the risk of damning all that is cool and underground with our pro-whiteboy Midas touch, we're going to tell you how much we enjoyed watching the soul, funk, R&B and sometimes classic rock band LX play at Logo on Wednesday. This band is headed by Lucius Clark (whom we are told is from New York), and the other players include the very talented Vladimir on guitar (sorry we don't know your last name), whom we've seen play gypsy jazz on Fridays past with Etienne at La Bella. There are also some other band members from Mauritius who also rock but sorry, we don't know their names.

Chinese stocks plunged more than 5 percent yesterday, as more and more investors chose to stay away from the highly volatile market. The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index fell 5.25 percent to close at 3,615.87 points, extending Wednesday's two percent loss. In the last month, almost half of the yuan-denominated A-shares in the Shanghai and Shenzhen stock exchanges have fallen more than 30 percent. On Wednesday, only 70,132 new accounts were opened - a big drop from the daily average of over 300,000 in May.

On Wednesday, peoples of all nations will celebrate World Consumer's Day (that holiest of capitalist holidays, not including Christmas). Meanwhile, Chinese market watchdogs have released lists of consumer rights' infringement cases in anticipation of the festivities, further cementing their ideological position as champions of consumerism the masses. In the most high-profile case, Chinese courts lashed out against one of Shanghaiist's favorite kings, the King of Beers, for what were found to be misleading promotional practices during a recent New Year's giveaway campaign.
