But for those of you wanting to get out this Sunday, rest assured we've found this weekend's most satisfying event to be a part of, both gastronomically and ethically.
Philanthropist: Help kids, buy organic at Baobei Famers' Market
Grab a Bite: The Freshary's mini muffins
Why you should grab a bite: Maybe we should begin with a short introduction to The Freshary. Run by Paul and Sara Bergman, the ice cream and baked goods shop is dedicated to completely organic and vegan treats. All their stuff is made without preservatives, trans fats or any kind of artificial additives and they've just opened up a second shop on Julu Lu.
Photos: The first Jiashan farmer's market
The weather couldn't have been better today for the first farmer's market at the Jiashan courtyard. The day was beautiful, sunny, and warm, which gave people every reason to come out and shop all the goods up for sale at the market. Fresh fruits, veggies, cheese, homemade jams, hummus, cookies, crepes, wine, cold cuts of meat, it was all there. We're already looking forward to next month's one.
Cafetique: Healthy lounging at Melange Oasis
In Cafetique, Shanghaiist reviews coffee shops and cafes around Shanghai that provide the two things our writers need most in life: caffeine and wireless internet. How does your neighborhood hangout spot stack up?
Pencil This In: Did we not get the memo that this weekend was CHARITY WEEKEND?
It's crazy right? Not to say that Shanghai isn't in a charitable mood most of the time, but this is the first instance we've seen of an entire three day stretch dedicated to not one... not two... but four FIVE different charitable events. It's as if the charity heavens opened up and decided this weekend was the day to rain torrents of giving.
