Backlash against public displays of pajamas

Barring this past week's cold spell, temperatures are slowly beginning to rise here in Shanghai and with that, the amount of people we see walking outside in pajamas have invariably increased as well. But if one Shanghainese bureaucrat has her way, then Public Displays of Pajamas (or PDoP for short) might soon become a thing of the past.

Olympics are over and that means we can expect more live shows to start creeping into our weekends. Tonight, Institutional Crush, an old metal band from Changchun is heading to Live Bar to show the youngsters how to properly head bang. Yuyintang is trying something a bit different; with a night of local DJs that includes B6 and Fish, two members of the infamous Antidote crew.

After a long and sometimes chaotic winter, the recent heatwave has been much celebrated around the city. Outdoor dining is back, the windows are open, and the locals are sporting this season's hottest pajama fashion. But with all the good weather there's a silver lining or, perhaps more accurately, a poisonous death haze. This is that magical time of year where all the tiny particles in the air heat up and you start feeling like you're living in a toaster over. If you can't see across the street, you probably won't enjoy walking there.
