CCTV documentary reveals hacking tool, links Chinese government to cyber attacks

Just one day after we questioned what kind of evidence Jon Huntsman had when he claimed the Chinese government was behind a swath of cyber attacks directed at the United States, the Falun Gong mouthpiece Epoch Times caught a glimpse of a hacking program inadvertently shown in a CCTV military documentary. Could this be an example of the definitive proof we've all been waiting for? more ›

News flash: Being in the Chinese military sucks

….And the ban hammer has been dropped! China’s Central Military Commission has just announced a list of “70 forbiddens” to “strengthen and improve ideology among armed service men and to further standardize honest behavior within the military” This list isn’t just for military personnel though, party cadres and government officials are also being urged (forced?) to develop a “clean and honest” government using these “70 forbiddens” as guidelines. more ›

China declares war on the U.S... in a computer game

In coordination with Chinese software company Giant Interactive Group, the People’s Liberation Army has developed China’s newest first person shooter; Glorious Mission. So what is the big deal? Well, Glorious Mission happens to be the first shooter to pit Chinese forces against U.S. Combatants, and - to no surprise - the United States are not happy with this premise. more ›

Chinese military plays Miss Match

Things just got a little lonelier in the PLA. We can't verify this news anywhere else, and it looks like, at least last week, China Daily was still calling the PLAAF PLAAF, but what would it mean to have something like this happen? more ›

The PLA's Got Talent, or at least the females need to

It looks like those female army officers goosestepping in hot pink miniskirts at the 60th Anniversary bash were a sign of things to come. As always seems to be the case with gender equality in China, the PLA's recent step forward (the country's first female fighter pilots) was just preparation to take two steps back. Witness: women trying to enter the army now must prove that they have "talents." more ›

Somalian Pirates hijack Chinese carrier

We've had a couple laughs over Somalian pirates before, but they've now taken a turn for the scary. It seems China's luck in dealing with them in the past has run out and it's now facing its first real crisis: Pirates have hijacked a Chinese bulk carrier in the Indian Ocean and are threatening to execute the 25 Chinese crew members if anybody attempts to save them. more ›

National Day Parade fashion watch!

National Day Parade fashion watch!

We're kind of loving the new pictures that are coming out of the various parades that'll be featured on October 1, the 60th Anniversary. We especially love this picture, which shows our ladies of the People's Liberation Army in their crisp powder blue uniforms and kickin' white high heeled boots. more ›
