Time to PAUSE this Sunday

Time to PAUSE this Sunday

It's been a while, but this Sunday will see a welcome return for the PAUSE collective, who will be bringing their heady mix of independent art, music, and creative stalls to everyone's favourite ex-Blue Ice hang out, The Shelter. Kicking off at 4pm down on Yong Fu Lu, there will be a bunch of inventive things to get excited about, featuring contributors from across the globe and, of course, the cream of Shanghai's arts scene. more ›

Hairong Tiantian just can't seem to keep her clothes on

Hairong Tiantian (海容天天) is at it again (and again, and again, and again), inspiring China on to philosophical nirvana with her highly profound works of performance art. Hairong Tiantian turns heads (and raises them, too?)

Shanghaiist was surprised today to see well over 7,000 visitors coming in via this post today, and we were curious to know why so many people were Googling Hairong Tiantian, who caused a storm last year by not only posting saucy images of herself on her blog but also soliciting photos of limp penises. more ›

Notes from the underground: Weekend in review

Notes from the underground: Weekend in review

We hate to sound like we're shilling for Live Bar, but with ten shows in the five weeks since they officially opened, the Yangpu dive is fast becoming the number one venue for live rock music in Shanghai. Three consecutive concerts this past weekend meant six long cab rides, 13 bands, and innumerable (20-kuai!) pitchers of beer. more ›
