A busy lady with a busy dance company - just back from Australia and only one month after their last Shanghai performance, they are now on stage here again. This coming weekend, - Jin Xing and her dance troupe, Jin Xing Dance Theatre, take on the Shanghai Grand Theatre with the piece Made in China - The return of the Soul, a work that takes the idea of China as the worlds biggest factory and contrasts it with the pressured individuals behind that machinery.
Jin Xing is back: Just as busy as the workers she depicts on stage
Jin Xing Dance Theatre and the concept of beauty: an intense joyride of dance, dance, dance
Jin Xing herself greeted the audience from upstage in the wide theatre. The auditorium was barely half filled, but that didn't bother the choreographer, "I'm interested in quality not quantity. Ten years ago when my company performed in this exact theatre, the room was filled. Back then I gave away tickets to everyone, so it was easy to fill it up. Now, I don´t give away one single ticket, no one from the government gets anything, cause I love quality of the audience!"
More and more Shanghainese opting for plastic surgery
More people than ever are getting plastic surgery in Shanghai, according to Channel News Asia. One beauty enhancing outlet, Shanghai Time Plastic Surgery Hospital, reported that it had seen an increase in patients by 45% year-on-year. The most frequently requested procedures include rhinoplasty, face reshaping, breast augmentation and - that favorite of Asia - double eyelid surgery. Men are also increasingly becoming surgery regulars, usually asking for “hair and mustache implants.”
