It seems as though young women have to be really careful around Shanghai these days. Just last month, two Shanghainese men went on trial for allegedly raping a French intern... and now, another school scandal has been put forth. As reported by Shanghai Daily, a man is being held for trying to rape a 22 year old female at Donghua University campus. The man lured his victim to an empty room of the university by posing as a deaf-mute Japanese student, showing her his cell phone with words saying he had lost his way and needed help.

- New York University has started construction on its second major international campus here in Shanghai. The teaching will remain the same as the campuses in New York and Abu Dhabi as the university has been given independent status. No Chinese censorship?
- Apparently there is too much music in Shanghai, so much so that audience numbers are dwindling. A lack of motivation and self-promotion is to blame. It seems there can be too much of a good thing after all.

Canadian Wagas customer victim of run-by stabbing in Xujiahui
Holy cow, this makes me think twice about enjoying beautiful weather outside. A Japanese-Canadian guy eating outside the Grand Gateway Wagas in Xujiahui was stabbed to death (seemingly randomly) at around 5pm yesterday. The victim, unnamed, had been enjoying his meal outside when a middle-aged man came up and stabbed him, according to witnesses. A suspect was arrested at the scene, but there are very few other details. Strangely enough, the story was pulled off Xinmin. Are foreigner deaths too sensitive for the Chinese public?
