Lin Yu Chun, Taiwan's Susan Boyle, voted off "One Million Star"

Oh no! Despite his amazing take on "I Will Always Love You," it seems like contestant Lin Yu Chun (aka Xiao Pang) was voted off the show in its most recent episode. Lin's voice was suspiciously all over the place singing Shunza's (顺子) "Coming Home" (回家), earning him a paltry 17 out of 25 points. Happy Girls, the new SARFT-approved edition of uber-popular singing show Super Girls, has kicked off with what the Wall Street Journal is calling China's “own Susan Boyle moment.” 79-year-old Wu Baiwei sang “On Songhua River,” a patriotic song about the Sino-Japanese War to a panel of judges that... well, quite honestly didn't look nearly as moved, shocked or impressed as Simon Cowell and friends. Zhang Liangying (张靓颖), called the dolphin princess for her wide range, appears on Oprah to discuss the phenomenon: Super Voice Girl (which incidentally is being revived as Happy Girls this season). Oprah seems taken aback by the amount of people who watched the show (400 million! 400 MILLION!) and hilariously translates Mengniu into "Mongolian Cow."
