Speaking of the Expo, since it's ending on Sunday, we can expect a lot of overwrought opinion pieces on it come Monday morning. Before that though, Shanghai Scrap has gotten the jump on every other Expo closing thoughts piece by interviewing one of the Expo's biggest critics, Malcolm Moore of the Telegraph. Has his opinion changed in these six months? As we reported, the Peace Hotel reopens to the public today. Malcolm Moore of the Telegraph got a first look at the renovated 81-year-old landmark.
Telegraph: Dalian oil leak caught Chinese gov "woefully unprepared"
While the Dalian Port oil leak has now basically been cleared, the efforts revealed just how woefully unprepared China was for an environmental accident of this scale, according to Tim Collard at the Telegraph. Local fishermen cleaned up the sludge without any protections (face masks or even rubber gloves) and one relief worker has already been drowned under the oil crust. The good news: The fact that it was reported in local media at all, showing that "China is moving on from the times when an environmental disaster was purely the business of the State Council Information Office and their media-manipulation apparatus."
Touchmedia creates interactive map for Shanghai taxis
Seems like taxis in Shanghai have been getting a whole lot of attention lately. Chinese in-taxi media company, Touchmedia, is launching an interactive map in more than 10,000 taxis around Shanghai next month, all in preparation for next year's Expo.

It seems like those hoping to protest over perceived wrongs by the government can't even trust "journalists" to help them out these days.
