"Feng Jing is not as big as some of the other water towns near Shanghai, but it's still worth a visit. If you are interested in visiting Feng Jing, here's how to get there. Travel by metro or taxi to Jing Jang metro station which is on line 3. Very close to the metro station is a bus station where you can take a bus to Feng Jing for 11 yuan. The journey takes approximately 45 mins. We walked around the whole place in under 4 hours and that included an hour for lunch, There are the usual old architectural building styles to see, a plethora of vendors selling everything from cheap novelties to folk art and silk thread embroidery. A cartoon gallery featuring the artwork of Feng Jing's famous son "Ding Cong", and traditional boats on which to float down the canals of Feng Jing."

China: A designers' mecca?
We just came across an interesting New York Times article about art, design and architecture in China. Much of it deals with the work of Ai Weiwei, an artist and designer (and son of famed poet Ai Qing), who has created a number of interesting living spaces, such as loft complexes, where the living space is near to or combined with gallery space:
