We read the release before we saw the images, and we have to admit to being rather underwhelmed by the chic and bold and charming new outfits. In fact, we thought perhaps we were looking at the "before" images ... like, ones from the 1960s or 70s ... but then remembered that China Southern was founded in 1991. We looked up "boffo" and our dictionary told us it could mean "resoundingly successful or popular" and "boisterously funny." Neither one really fits. The uniforms are fine. They are unoffensive. They seem pretty normal. (But they are indeed an improvement on what came before them. See here, here and here.)

We Googled "iGallop" and discovered that while this device was new to us (and maybe Shanghai?) it definitely isn't new. Someone YouTubed the TV commercial for the iGallop back in January. Looks like it launched in Singapore and Hong Kong in January, and bloggers, sex bloggers and newspapers noticed -- one girl even tried to use her boyfriend as a free iGallop. Looks like an English version of the iGallop ad was shown during the World Cup in some parts of the UK. And many people have flexed their Photoshop skillz and placed dildos and vibrators on photos of the iGallop. Panasonic, apparently, also has a similar product called JOBA. Here's a video of someone trying the JOBA in Hong Kong.

Having never purchased a real Gucci product, we have no idea whether "hang dry" is mentioned in the product care instructions as what to do after hand washing your handbag with a bar of Omo in the sink outside. We have to assume it is, since we highly doubt any owner of a Gucci handbag would fail to follow the rules, considering how expensive Gucci merchandise is. We couldn't see the labels on the other items hanging on the line -- a windbreaker, some panties and a pair of porn shorts[1] -- but we are assuming they were Gucci, too. As we said, we are not very familiar with Gucci's product line.

... a fencing competition. We Googled the name of the event -- "Westgate Mall FIE Men's Foil AND Women's Foil World Cup" -- and found nothing. But sources tell us that some of the participants were hanging out at Shuffle Bar on Saturday night.
