Windows Tembo is set to move from its current location Shaanxi Bei Lu to new digs near the Nanjing Xi Lu metro station at the end of the month. The new venue is being renovated at the moment and plans to open on May 30th. The transition will be seamless however, with no downtime between the old venue closing and the new one opening.

Following the explosive opening weekend at Windows Tembo and another great Subs performance the scene is still buzzing with activity and expectation. One side effect appears to be hype and punditry getting in earlier than usual so Shanghaiist does not want to be left out.

Andy Best and Cameron Hirst of Temple Gates feature the very first edition of their show Friday Night Underground which offers us a slice of Shanghai's underground live music scene with female band The Happy Strings performing at Windows Tembo live music bar. Hosted by Aric S. Queen, music columnist for City Weekend (Shanghai) and Anthony Gonzalez.

Beijing based punk rockers The Subs officially opened Windows Tembo's new stage last night. The venue was packed and the show, well ... it's already got us reaching for the superlatives. Luckily, supporting act Mortal Fools drummer Tim Anderson was on hand to sum up the night with a calmer observation: "Every time the Subs play Shanghai they raise the bar for the whole scene and everyone gets lifted up."

It might have been one day earlier than planned but, after they rescued the Dandi Wind gig, Shanghaiist checked out the renewed Windows Tembo last night and we liked what we saw. Having made Live Bar the place that it is, we had every faith that Brad Ferguson would turn this slightly more central location into a great place for live music too and, if last night's show is anything to go by, it is going to quickly establish itself as one of Shanghai's premier gig venues.

We already told you about the latest Dandi Wind news. We are happy to hear that a venue has been found and look forward to an intense live performance.
