Threesday: Ladies hit the town

In our ongoing Threesday feature, Shanghaiist takes the time to count out three of....well, whatever catches our fancy that week. And this week it's for the ladies (and single men looking for action). We present you with three ladies nights to check out.

Ask Men: China is world's 4th most horny country

So China has been named by Ask Men as the fourth horniest country in the world - thanks to the 5000 sex shops recently opened in Beijing, its status as largest producer of sex toys, and the fact that it has a SEXPO (which we're guessing they didn't visit - because, really, it was totally a boner killer). Most hilarious was its recommendations of horny places to visit in Shanghai - Bar Rouge, Zapata's and Windows. We think perhaps they're mistaking horny for white, old and sleazy. Yes, the difference is subtle, but we maintain that it's pretty solidly there. We could be wrong, but we're assuming Ask Men was thinking more along the lines of Austin Powers and less that chunky Brit with the wife and kids across the ocean. (Thanks @tuzhonghua!)

2009 July 4th Rundown

You know where we’re going to be tomorrow, but if for some in explicable reason you don’t have a hankering for some Kelley Lee BBQ and rapturous Boxingcat brews, here are a few other options in town. We’re not including the AmCham bash because Sheshan isn’t quite “in town,” plus we think it’s just a tad criminal to spend 350 RMB (non-member price) for an American Independence Day bash in this wretched economy.

A good cause is a good cause - right?

This is probably not the most obvious collaboration but Zapata’s is hosting - for one special night only - the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders (DCC), with all proceeds going towards Shanghai Roots and Shoots.

Earth Hour: Drink away the darkness!

Sure, you could always just stay at home tonight, turn out your lights at exactly 8:30pm and then wait around an hour before you declare yourself a good environmental citizen and go back to your regular life - or you could recognize the whole movement for what it really is: a way to feel a part of something bigger than yourself with like-minded people... and an excuse to get drunk in the dark! So here's a couple places to chug a few in the name of Mother Gaia.
