Couple knocks over elderly woman, then buries her alive

A young Chinese couple has been arrested by local police in Liupanshui, Guizhou for knocking over a 68-year-old woman in Yuyao, Zhejiang with their car, and then burying her alive when they thought she was dead. An eye-witness says he saw the couple get out of their Santana to help the old woman lying on the ground, saying they would send her immediately to hospital. Worried about the penalties for drunken driving, the 25-year-olds may have decided to bury the woman when they thought she was no longer breathing on their way to the hospital. more ›

After narrowly avoiding being crushed by several vehicles, the boy was spotted by a policeman who reacted quickly and whisked him to safety. Apparently he was in the care of his grandfather, who had gone to the toilet at the time of the incident. First swine flu-related death occurs in Zhejiang

Just like they warned, China's now reported its first death related to swine flu - though they're not sure if the death was actually caused by the virus. A 34-year-old female patient in Zhejiang province had been recovering from H1N1 when she was found dead on her toilet yesterday morning. The hospital said her temperature had been normal for a week, she was coughing only occasionally and her other symptoms were disappearing. Work will start on Shanghai Hangzhou line in March

Work will start on Shanghai Hangzhou line in March

Construction on the new rail line between Shanghai and Hangzhou will start by late March, officials said. The line will be 159km long with trains that run up to 350kmph, shortening the trip between the two cities to 28 minutes. Altogether, the project is expected to cost 29.68 billion yuan.
