A group of 30 young mothers gathered in a busy shopping mall in Wuhan on Saturday for a breastfeeding flash mob to mark World Breastfeeding Week, which is celebrated every year from Aug 1 to 7.
Through their action, the women hoped to draw attention to the importance of breastfeeding and to call for more nursing rooms to be provided in public places.
In China today, only 30 percent of infants are breastfed exclusively by their mothers. The Ministry of Health aims to raise that proportion to 50% by the year 2020.
