17 December marks one year after the death of “Dear Leader” Kim Jong-il. Following his passing, most political power has been passed on to the living members of North Korea. Since April of 2012, however, Mr. Kim has maintained the position of “Eternal General Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea,” making him part of an elite group of international political leaders who are, well, dead. Also a member of this club is (surprise!) Kim Il-sung, who has been the “Eternal President of the Republic” since his death in July of 1994.
In the below video, mourners place flowers before the tombs of two dead men who are currently holding the highest political positions in their country.
