You know those long walks that your grandad takes? Well, one nonagenarian’s daily constitutional ended with him being arrested after a detour led him into the bed of a prostitute and a police-bust.
Local media reports that the incident occured in Luzhai county in Liuzhou, Guangxi province. Locals had reported to the police that some apartments on a backstreet were being rented out by prostitutes. On Thursday the Luzhai police went to investigate and in one dark and dingy room came across a middle-aged prostitute engaged with a client. So far, so normal. What surprised the officers was the age of the client, when they questioned him they learned that he was 91 years old!
After bringing the offender back to the police station the man told his story. Wearing a peaked cap pulled down low over his eyes he bowed his head and confessed; “old people make mistakes” he said. The man explained that he had a large family with many grandchildren and implored the police officers not to tell them.
The man said that normally he was fond of spending his time painting and doing calligraphy, and that he was actually quite a talented artist. However since his wife died he had been lonely and missed being with a woman. The day that the police caught him, he ‘happened to be passing’ through the narrow backstreet and found himself unable to resist the prostitutes’ enticements. He agreed to pay 20 yuan before finding police bursting into the room.
Luzhai police said that this was by far the oldest offender arrested in their anti-prostitution crackdown. The man said that he deeply regretted his actions and police, according to regulations, said that he would receive ‘re-education’ to dissuade him from any future backstreet detours.
