Those huge white spheres? Epic swine. The Pigs of God festival in Taiwan took place earlier this week, as farmer’s prized force-fed jumbo pigs were paraded through the streets before being sacrificed. The Holy Pigs are a tradition of the Hakka ethnic group in Taiwan, and it has frequently been subject to criticisms from animal rights groups claiming, “the pigs are often fed sand and metal to increase their weight.” To recap: those huge, painted, pork-blobs are being danced through the street, filled with metal, and are about to be killed for the New Year.
