While you were working this weekend to make up for having the temerity to go on holiday (communism, ain’t it grand!), 5,000 Tencent employees were happy to go into the office. The workers queued for hours to receive a special Spring Festival cash bonus.
According to photos and accounts posted on Weibo, the line snaked from the plaza outside Tencent’s Shenzhen headquarters, all the way to CEO Pony Ma’s office on the 37th floor, where the boss man was personally handing out hong bao to his workers. According to Caijing, Ma began handing out the red envelopes at 8am, and still wasn’t finished by lunchtime.
