Taiwanese director Ang Lee has picked up his second Oscar for best directing for Life of Pi, at the 85th Academy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles.
58 year old Lee, who first attracted global attention for the martial arts epic Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, won his first Academy Award in 2006 for directing Brokeback Mountain, even though Lee’s far, far better film was eventually pipped to the Best Picture prize by the loathsome Crash.
Life of Pi was filmed in Taiwan and India, in his acceptance speech, Lee thanked “the whole of Taiwan – everyone in Taiwan!”
