Ahh, the customary cleanse following a messy breakup. Rupert Murdoch’s 21st Century Fox has sold its 47 percent stake in Star China TV, the Chinese television company Murdoch’s ex-wife Wendi Deng had worked for when they’d met in 1999.
21st Century Fox once owned a majority stake in the TV firm but it was sold back in 2010 to China Media Capital (CMC), BBC reports.
According to Shanghai Daily:
After the investment, CMC and local management team will fully own Star China TV, which operates three 24-hour Mandarin channels — Xing Kong, Xing Kong International, Channel [V] Mainland China — and the Fortune Star Chinese movie library.
“This latest transaction marks a new era for Star China and we remain committed to building the company into one of the most respected entertainment companies in China,” said Ruigang Li, Chairman of China Media Capital.
The billionaire and Deng, 30 years his junior, reached a settlement in November 2013 following the highly-publicized divorce case announced months prior which confirmed to us all that true love really is dead.
