Last month, a lady was pounced on by a large black dog inside a mountain park near Hefei. After witnessing the attack, the dog owner didn’t stop to help; instead he just kept trotting down the mountain with his pet at his side, yelling behind him that he will only take her for treatment if she can catch up with them.
According to NetEase, while taking a walk in the Shushan Forest Park with her friends one lovely evening, a lady named Han Yan saw a leashed Rottweiler running straight toward her. She instinctively lifted her left arm to defend herself, and the dog tore her arm up good, resulting in some deep wounds and bleeding that wouldn’t stop. As she screamed out in pain, the dog’s owner approached, grabbed his dog and left.
Han said the black dog was huge, about 1 meter long, and it was well apart from its owner when it attacked. She also said that she wasn’t teasing the dog, it had just came out of nowhere to attack here. Mostly, she wasn’t mad at the dog, but the inconsiderate owner who hadn’t even stopped to see if she was ok. He had simply added insult to injury by teasing her, “Catch up with us if you can, then I’ll take you to the hospital!”
The woman’s friends tried to run after them, but found that the man and his dog had managed to slip away. They then called the police and rushed Han to the nearest hospital. She received 5 stitches for her wounds, as well as lots of medicine, spending 4,000 yuan in all.
Unsurprisingly, the dog owner’s uncaring attitude has aroused ager all over Weibo:
“This definitely isn’t the first time that something like this has happened. There are too many dog owners with bad attitudes around the country nowadays. Many of my friends have had their children bitten by dogs and they were never able to track down the owners,” one netizen commented.
“There are too many people walking their dogs without leashes, and what’s more, the government doesn’t even care! Hotel attacks, vaccine and milk powder scandals? No one is controlling them!” another wrote in.
After a two-day investigation, local police said that they identified the owner and his dog. Great police work, guys!
In response to the incident, park officials have stated that they plan to increase security measures inside the park to prevent this kind of attack from ever happening again.
